so two alaskans walk into a bar…

that’s it!! badum-cha!

ok ok ok… here are some things i’ve learned over the past couple of days:

1. I actually hung out with not one, but TWO alaskans last night and let me tell you… it was really cool… they had to chain their sleds and dogs outside and everything. anyhow, did you know that all alaskan residents over 6 months in age receive a dividend check each year? the amount fluctuates year to year but it is generally around $1000 per year.

2. Brunching by yourself is fun. Grab a paper, go to a good little french bistro-ish place like Moutarde or maybe Rue B (ahhh, i miss it), sit a small table or at the bar, take advantage of the bottomless coffee, the strong bloody mary’s, and just take it all in. Mind you this is coming from the kid who couldn’t eat at the school cafeteria by himself.

3. Jaegermeister: yea, still not fun. yup, never was.

4. Whichever city department takes care of sidewalks needs to immediately replace the one on Rivington St.

5. Grey Gardens the musical, definitely had no idea what that was about and it took a turn that i was not expecting… now i want to watch the 1975 documentary. anyways, the story and the cultural references were a bit lost on me… amazing performances by the leads though.

6. As Benny has pointed out, South African slang is funny. On a side note: I can’t wait til Julian comes back and we can’t understand a word he says.

7. I’ve been saying this for a while now… but this confirms it, Boston is wack.

8. Superbowl boxes are hard to explain to someone if they’ve never played before.

9. Yup, bomber hats are it… saw 1 this morning, 4 last night, and 3 the night before.

10. A group of unicorns is called a blessing (you can’t make this stuff up!).
